Congratulations to three Ladykats on All District Honors
Miriam Justinger was named the 2012 Associated Press Northwest Ohio Div I girls All-Distict Player-of-the-Year averaging 19.5 pts, 4.9 rebounds and 3.9 assists. Along with her is J.J Jessing 13.7 pts/9.3 rbds named to 2nd Team and Freshmen Kendall McCoy 11.5 pts/5.1 rbds & Maddie Cole both named to Special Mention. Great job girls in representing Northview. Of course none of this would have been possible without the super support from their teammates in a fabulous year winning their third straight NLL title.

LADYKATS FALL IN DISTRICT FINAL 54-43
In a game that saw a huge crowd for the District Final, our beloved Kats were unable to withstand a relentless high pressured defense by Notre Dame in the second half that forced 20 turnovers and unbalanced scoring from NV. The Kats came out hot and controlled the first half but were unable to repeat that pace in the second.
Congratulations to the ladykats on a spectacular season that disappointed no one. Winning their third straight NLL crown, going 14-0 in league play, having another player reach 1000 points, seeing two of their own going on to play Div I college ball, watching freshman mature, obtaining the Blade poll's #1ranking, and previewing us with a future forcast of better things to come over the next three seasons. Thank You Ladykats for entertaining us with your play.
Last night is over and our girls should keep their heads held high. Today is a new day and tomorrow is waiting. When the game is over, the King and the Pawn go back in the same box.
Finally, in the words of Robert Frost: " In three words I can sum up everything I've learned about life: IT GOES ON."
3/2/12
KATS FIND POT-O-GOLD IN FRIES/ BEAT THE IRISH 68-64
Miriam Justinger poured in 19 pts, Kendall McCoy dialed in 15 pts and J.J Jessing (9 pts)dominated the boards with 15 rebounds but it was freshman Maddie Fries who stole the spotlight in the second half by scoring 10 pts inluding two three pointers and two crutial free throws in the ladykat victory. Fries came off the bench in relief of Skylar Rose, who sustained a left knee injury and had to leave the game. The smallest girl on the floor makes a huge impact in the game. The kats defeated CCHS last night in a Div I semi-fiinal district game 68-64.
Other scorers include Rose (9), Yurjevic (4) and Cole (2).
Northview will play Notre dame in the district final on Saturday @ Perrysburg HS. Game time 7pm.

KATS FINISH 14-0 NLL WITH 59-48 WIN OVER BG
In their final regular season game the kats travelled to BG with one thing on their minds. Complete an undefeated season and third straight NLL title. They did just that in ladykat fashion. J.J Jessing and Kendall McCoy turned it on and finished with 23 and 19 pts respectively. McCoy tallied 5 three pointers while Jessing simply could not miss. Justinger added to the trio of double digit scorers with 12 pts herself. After the game everyone met back at Northview for the ceremonial cutting-down-of-the-nets.
Other great news was also in-store. The freshman needed overtime to complete their championship season and a NLL title with a 28-27 victory over BG. Emma Eding had 8 pts to lead the frosh.
The JV's also were victorious with a 38-19 romp over BG. They finish as NLL Champs as well with an 18-2 mark. Kendall Jessing netted 15 pts.

KATS ONE WIN FROM TEAM SEASON GOAL
The Kats travelled to Napoleon and left with their 18th victory as they won 48-36 in an all but flashy game. A bit sloppy at times but good enough to avoid any real threat from the host Wildcats. Justinger led all scorers with 20 pts followed by Jessing (9), McCoy (8), Cole (6) and Rose (5). One more win on Saturday vs BG will complete a team goal for a 19-1 regular season mark.
State tournament begins on the 25th against the winner of the Waite/ Whitmer game. The game will be played at Clay HS.
2/12/12

With balanced scoring and a patient offense, the Ladykats marched into Perrysburg last night and won their third consecutive NLL title by defeating the Jackets 49-44. Down the stretch it was once again great free throw shooting that mad the difference with NV shooting 15 of 17 from the line. This was a nice team win with everyone invloved. Scoring: Justinger (15), Jessing (12), Cole (10), McCoy (6) and Rose (6).
The ladykats finish the regular season with two raod games. First, this tuesday @ Napoleon and next saturday @ BG. After the game at BG their will be the traditional "cutting-down-of-the-nets" back at NV for pictures and celebration.
BIG CONGRATULATIONS to our JV squad who dominated and destroyed the Perrysburg JV's 41-25. The JV's were led by an outstanding performance from Kendall Jessing who netted 16 pts and held PB's leading forward to only 2 pts. Great job Kendall.
The freshman team was not so fortunate falling 28-25. They were led by Abbey Pawlak with 10 pts.

LADYKATS 'RIP-ROARING-GOOD' CRUSH BG 74-61
NLL teams measure their success in how they play against Northview Ladykat basketball. Most don't fair well and last night was no exception as the Ladykats cruised to a 74-61 victory. Bowling Green Bobcats came into Northview believing they could upend our beloved Kats. Instead they went home with their tails tucked and awestruck realizing just what it takes to defeat a Ladykkat squad that now holds a two game lead over the entire NLL.
Four players reached double figures. Justinger with a game high 24 pts, Jessing 19 pts, Rose 14 pts and McCoy with 13 pts. Justinger also was the BCSN PLayer-of-the-Game.

SENIORS LEAD WAY OVER PBURG 61-56
The senior trio of Justinger (21 pts), Jessing (17 pts)and Rose (11 pts) took command of the fourth quarter, especially from the foul line, and turned back the Perrysburg Yellow Jackets with a huge dose of Ladykat "Raid." In a game that highlighted the top two teams in the NLL, it was as expected. Physical, fast and exciting for a girls high school basketball game. Perrysburg did their best leading throughout a majority of the game but a big dose of defense and flawless shooting from the charity stripe proved to be the difference.
Other scorers for the Ladykats were McCoy (10 pts), Mason (2 pts).

Next up is Perrysburg Friday night at home.

Kats Prevail Over CCHS Irish 61-52
In a game of multiple turnovers, sloppy play and poor first half free throw shooting the Ladykats regrouped at the half and proved it takes more than The-Luck-of-the-Irish to beat them on their own court. Led by senior Miriam Justingers team high 23 points and freshman Kendall McCoys 12 points (10 pts in the 2nd half) the Kats won 61-52.
Highlight of the night was a thrilling spin move and running three pointer by Skylar Rose with 0.1 sec left in the half from just over half court which gave NV a 10 point lead going into the break.

Dear Parents and LadyKats,
The coaching staff needs your help and support. As many of you are aware, one of our Northview math teachers, Melissa Belcher, a 39 year old wife and mother of two boys, ages 7 years and 21 months, was diagnosed in November, 2010, with ALS (Lou Gehrigs Disease). The disease began affecting her left arm when she was five months pregnant with her second son. It is now progressing to other parts of her body. Her wish is to take her husband and children on a Disney Cruise while she is still able to walk and enjoy quality time with her family. To be able to spend that time with her family, creating life-long memories for each of them, would mean the world to her. Melissa has registered this wish with Wish Upon a Hero (http://www.wishuponahero.com/wishes/?id=1099075).
It is our desire to raise funds to help make this wish a reality. Melissa is a very successful volleyball coach at Central Catholic and many of their basketball players also played for Coach Belcher. The Northview coaching staff feels the night of the Central Catholic High School girls game would be a great night to have a Pass the Ball. We will pass a cut basketball through the crowd on both sides of the court between the first and second quarters of each game (freshmen, JV, and Varsity). To accomplish this, we will need fathers for each game to Pass the Ball. We already have one volunteer for the freshmen game; we need one more for that game and two fathers for each the JV and the Varsity games. Volunteers whose daughters will not be playing in a particular game are needed. If you would be willing to help the coaching staff with this endeavor, please email Coach Sigler.
We plan on having a large crowd for the games and hope people will open their hearts to contribute to Melissa as she fights a tremendous battle.
We will present the funds to Melissa (who is planning to be in attendance the night of the game) before the night is over.
The coaching staff extends a big Thank You for your help with this effort to make Melissas wish come true.
Also, our JVs will be playing Starts JVs at Start on Thursday, December 29, at 10:00 a.m. The Varsity will be playing Start Varsity at 2:00 p.m. at the Huntington Center in downtown Toledo. We hope to see all of you there.

Kats Team Up/Down Rebels 84-24
The Ladykats continued to roll in a commanding way prior to Christmas break by shooting down a dismal rebellion from visiting Bowsher 84-24. In a game that was theirs from the opening tip, the ladykats got points from 10 players. Justinger led the way with 19 points followed by Maddie Cole (12), JJ. Jessing (11) and Kendall McCoy (10). Maddie Cole, a starting freshman post, knows how tough it is to play on the block as a freshman finally got some reward with a fine performance scoring a season high 12 points.
The game also saw nice bench scoring from junior Lauren Yurjevic (9 pts) and senior Chelsey Mason (6 pts). Contributing freshman were Kendall Jessing (8 pts) and Maddie Fries (2 pts).
Next up will be our first big test as the ladykats take on Start in the Blade Holiday Classic next Thursday, 12/29/11, at the Huntington Center in downtown Toledo. Game time is 2 pm. Get your tickets early at Northview and save $2.00 as tickets will be $8.00 at the door.

LADYKATS ASSAULT TOO MUCH FOR AW GENERALS
Last night our Ladykats were firing on all cylinders in their home opener taking on the Anthony Wayne Generals. In a game where we saw 10 ladykats score, AW could not find an answer for anything. Led by seniors Justinger (game high 20 pts), Jessing (16 pts) and Rose (11 pts) the ladykats cruised to a commanding victory 83-41.
BCSN was on hand to broadcast the game and named Freshman Kendall McCoy as the player of the game. McCoy (one of two starting freshman) came out hot making 3 of 4 three pointers and ended the game with 11 pts.
Next on the board will be @ Maumee on 12/2/11.
11/29/11
IMPORTANT NOTE !!!!!!! I put the practice schedule up according to the schedule I receive from Coach Shadle. Although it is usually spot-on, there are always changes to that schedule that I am unaware of or they are last minute changes. For example, todays practice is supposed to be 5-7 however, it has been changed to 2:45 - 5. I am sure everyone understands.
Thank You
Tim McCoy
